This service is for the woman who wants length, density, or both —without the extensions ever announcing themselves.Whether you are adding fullness to fine hair, closing a growing-out chapter faster, or simply refusing to compromise on how your hair moves, the process begins the same way: an honest conversation about your hair, your routine, and the result you actually want.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Every install, considered.

Private consultation

A full assessment of your hair — density, condition, growth pattern — and an honest plan.

The routine, products, and habits that protect both the extensions and the hair underneath.

THE PROCESS

From consultation to install.

01

Consultation

We talk through the length, density, and result you want — and I assess the hair honestly against it.

02

Colour match

Hair is selected and, when needed, custom-toned so it disappears into your existing colour.

03

Method chosen

Tape-in or K-tip is decided based on your hair, your lifestyle, and how you want to wear it.

04

Application

Placement is precise and comfortable — every bond sits flat, invisible, and safe on the hair.

05

Cut & aftercare

A cut-in blends the extensions into your own hair, then a written aftercare plan goes home with you.

TIMING & INVESTMENT

Two methods, one standard.

Tape-in and K-tip are two routes to the same result. We choose the right one together at consultation, based on your hair and how you live with it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

The questions worth asking.

How long do hair extensions last?

With the right method and aftercare, tape-in extensions live comfortably for 6 to 8 weeks between move-ups, and the hair itself is reusable for 6 to 12 months. K-tip extensions sit closer to 3 to 4 months per install. Your aftercare habits — heat, product, brushing — set the ceiling on how long the hair looks its best.

What is the difference between tape-in and K-tip extensions?

Tape-in extensions are thin wefts pressed between sections of your natural hair with a medical-grade adhesive. They are quick to install, comfortable, and best for adding fullness and length to fine or medium hair. K-tip (keratin-tip) extensions are individual strands bonded one at a time — more granular, longer-lasting, and better for very fine or dense hair where invisibility matters most. We choose the right method together at consultation.

Will extensions damage my natural hair?

Not when they are placed and maintained properly. Both tape-in and K-tip methods are considered gentle when installed by a specialist who accounts for the density, condition, and growth pattern of your hair. Damage almost always comes from incorrect placement, extending past a safe move-up window, or aggressive brushing at home. Your aftercare plan is what protects the hair long-term.

How long does the appointment take?

A first install typically runs 3 to 5 hours depending on how many rows or strands your look requires, plus a colour-match and a cut-in to blend. Move-ups are shorter — usually 90 minutes to 2 hours for tape-in. You will always have a realistic time frame before the day.

Can extensions look invisible on very fine hair?

Yes — that is the specialty. Fine hair simply asks for more considered placement, a slightly lighter density, and often K-tip over tape-in so the bonds sit flatter. The goal is always the same: extensions no one can tell you are wearing.

How do I care for my extensions at home?

A sulphate-free shampoo, a leave-in conditioner mid-lengths to ends, and a wet-brush used gently from the ends up. Sleep with the hair in a loose braid or low ponytail, and always dry the roots fully before bed. You leave with a specific product list and a written routine.

What is the investment?

Extensions are always quoted at consultation because the price depends on the length, density, and method chosen for your hair.

How do I book?

New extension clients begin with an in-person consultation booked through Instagram (@hairbykathely). This is where we match the hair, plan the method, and confirm the timing and investment before your install date.
